Welcome to Maasai Mara Triangle

The Mara Triangle is a scenically stunning wedge of the Maasai Mara — over 500 km² of open savannah dotted with balanite trees, seasonal streams and marshes, bordered by the Mara River to the east, the iconic Siria Escarpment to the west, and Serengeti's Lamai Wedge to the south. It's a prime spot to watch zebra and wildebeest cross the Mara River in high season. Under its own jurisdiction for over 15 years and home to fewer camps than the main reserve, the Triangle is known for arguably better infrastructure, guide discipline, and conservation ethics than other parts of the Mara.

When to go

The Triangle sees the wildebeest migration's river crossings from July through October — this is the sweet spot for drama at the river. This trip itself is tied to a fixed date (13–16 November) for the UltraMarathon, which falls just after the main migration season but still offers strong resident game viewing and cooler, quieter conditions with fewer camps than the main reserve.
