About the destination
At over 500 square kilometers, the Mara Triangle is a scenic wedge of mixed habitats — open savannah dotted with Balanites trees, seasonal streams, and marshes — flanked by the Mara River to the east, the Siria escarpment to the west, and Serengeti's Lamai wedge to the south. It's home to some of the best river-crossing viewpoints for the wildebeest and zebra migration. Under its own jurisdiction for over 15 years, the Triangle has fewer camps than the main Mara reserve and conservancies, giving it a reputation for stronger infrastructure, guide discipline, and conservation ethics.

When to go
The UltraMARAthon runs in mid-November, at the tail end of the dry season and just before the short rains begin — expect warm days, cooler mornings, and green landscapes from the season's first showers. For the best chance at witnessing river crossings alongside your race weekend, July through October is peak migration season in the Triangle, though wildlife viewing here is strong year-round.

Day 2 — Masai Mara
Spend the whole at the Ultra MARAthon which is a 50km single-day foot race through the conservancies of the northern Maasai Mara ecosystem in Kenya. The race, run either as an individual or as part of a relay team, takes participants through the northern Mara conservancies giving them a unique sporting experience within one of Africa’s jewels. The proceeds from the event go directly to supporting initiatives in the region that are aimed at protecting both wildlife and the environment, and enhancing the lives of the community members who live there
